The War of Independence Tour is a full-day tour led by Tim Crowley, founder of the Michael
Collins Centre. Again it is a private tour using the tour group’s car or coach. You will visit all
of the West Cork sites associated with Michael Collins outlined as part of the Michael Collins
Tour (see above), as well as the War of Independence battle and ambush sites at Rosscarbery,
Kilmichael, Crossbarry and Upton.

What Our Visitors Think
Had the pleasure of bringing a group of work colleagues here today, and while we had a variety of knowledge levels on the Michael Collins story, Tims delivery fully engaged both the casually interested and the diehard history fans.
A warm welcome was followed by a fascinating presentation at the centre which covered both national and local history, interspersed with personal stories and folklore which kept us enthralled, and the personal connection with many of the historical figures involved in the stories brought authenticity to the tales. Complimenting this were the stories behind the on site displays and a well delivered slide show presentation centred on the Collins story and his untimely civil war demise.
We arranged for a site visit to the Collins family home and birthplace, and Tim accompanied us, giving us a very nice on site talk there.

If you are interested in the irish independance war, you HAVE to go there ! Timothy gave the greatest history presentation I ever watched. He really has the knowledge of a historian on Michael Collins. Absolutely incredible. There probably won't be any question you will ask he won't have the answer to. And for the foreigners, he speaks a very understandable english. I recommend 2000 % !!!!!!!
