Michael Collins 132rd Birthday
Today of course is Michael Collins 132rd Birthday and the other major item we added to the collection in May was the Michael Collins last Birthday Menu. He signed the back of that dinner menu with his colleagues, one hundred and one years ago this evening, in the Frascati restaurant on Oxford Street in London, see photo below.
Meanwhile over fifty hardy souls and Clonakilty’s brass band gathered at the birthplace of Michael Collins in Woodfield this morning to mark his Birthday.
Heavy rain fell for most of the short ceremony and the wreath was laid by Councillor Karen Coakley, see also photos of the event below.
The Michael Collins Centre Museum is now closed for off road casual visitors, but we are still very busy with School and History groups.
The other big news is that our new website has just gone live.
We have been working on it with a number of months and a big thank you to Justin and his team at Thin Slice Digital for building the site.
Thanks also to Fáilte Ireland for their huge support in developing the website.

The Michael Collins Centre Museum will be open for just two presentations this week, Monday 9.30 am, Saturday 10 am.
