The two poignant photographs below were taken on the day of Michael Collins’ funeral one hundred years ago today.
All in the photographs must have been close associates of Michael Collins, in the top photo we see the empty chair where the dead Commander in Chief should have been sitting.
The only person I can be sure of in that one is Commandant Joe O’Reilly – top left.
In the bottom photograph we see Johnny Collins brother of Michael Collins sitting in the empty chair, hiding his injured right hand and again Joe O’Reilly is on the back left.
Can anybody identfy any of the others in the photographs, or where the photographs were taken?
I have to thank John Pierse who sadly passed away last Thursday for both photographs.
